The Riverdale Youth Singers typically present two full concerts a year and their upcoming concert is slated for this Monday, Dec. 10, 7 p.m. at the Metropolitan Community Church, 115 Simpson Ave. in Riverdale.

The free concert is entitled Festival of Lights, Songs of lights to welcome the return of the sun.

With singer-songwriter Laura Repo and storyteller/songstress Jennielea, it features pieces by composers Daley, Telfer, Chilcott, Raminsh and Northern Lights by Norweigan electroacoustic composer Fjellheim, mixing ancient vocal traditions with contemporary rhythms.

In June, the choir will present Drumbeat, a collaborative exhibition of international percussionists, including Rodrigo Chavez of Cassava Latin Rhythms and Brenda Lem Joy of Inner Truth Dojo Taiko.
